a familiar goodbye

I photographed my family at the end of a visit to see them. Between the house and the airport there is always that drive that seems shorter at on the way there. We all live apart and the goodbye always comes sooner than expected. The tension that comes with splitting is a little bit disheartening, unsure of when we will be together again. It is a whirl wind of emotions my family always seems to try to hide. This book was created using my own images, found images and InDesign. I wanted it to imitate quilting to reflect a feeling of home. I used lace patterns and collage techniques to make it feel like you just picked it up from your grandma’s house.
